FACEDOWN RECORDS SIGN HANDS

Posted by Ben Sailer on 17-Dec-08 @ 04:03 PM

Christian hardcore hotbed Facedown Records have added Fargo, North Dakota's Hands to their roster.

The label's official press release says:

"We are very excited to introduce you to the newest member of the Facedown Family - HANDS. Since forming in 2007 Hands have desired to present a passionate and intense live show. Now, a year later, they offer a performance that is characterized by what drummer Josh Silbernagel calls "beautiful chaos." Hands unfurl hugely anthemic prog-rock ballads bearing the influence of Isis while at the same time laying out solidly progressive hardcore tracks inspired by bands such as Life In Your Way and Misery Signals. Hands will be working with Mike Dresch @ Cathouse Studios (Nodes of Ranvier, The Spill Canvas, War Of Ages) for their Facedown debut which will see a July 2009 release date. Keep an eye out for Hands tour dates to be announced soon including a stop at Facedown Fest 2009.

The band was previously signed to Oort Records.

You can hear some music from the ambient metalcore act here.

SEX PISTOLS CONSIDER RECORDING

Posted by Brian Shultz on 17-Dec-08 @ 03:10 PM

Sex Pistols bassist Glen Matlock recently spoke about the possibility of the band recording a new full-length in 2009.

"We were not recording a new album--I think that journalists are making it up," Matlock said at first, but then added, "you can never say never.

"We all got ideas between us. It's a double-edged sword if you do it not good as the original, and if you don't do it people want to know why - but it's up to us. We are the masters of our own destiny."

That "original" is the band's only full-length: 1977's legendary Never Mind The Bollocks, Here's The Sex Pistols. Though the band has reformed for sporadic touring over the last 12 years, they haven't hit the studio at all during that time.

A clip of the band jamming in their garage was recently posted.

The record will be released next summer, presumably through Sargent House and/or Mashdown Babylon.
