The Number Twelve Looks Like You announce break-up

Alternative Press - Tim Karan on 12/14/09 @ 2:56 PM - altpress.com

New Jersey quartet the Number Twelve Looks Like You have announced that they are breaking up. They've scheduled a farewell show on Jan. 29 at School of Rock East in South Hackensack, NJ. The show will feature former members of the band along with special guests. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Dec. 19 here.

Vocalist Jesse Korman said, "I don't want to give you a sob story of why we are closing the book. I want this to end on more of a happy note like the end of the movie 'Big Fish.' Those of you who've been with us these past nine years know how amazing you are, and know how much we have unconditionally appreciated your love and support. With that said, it's time to go out with some integrity, dignity and good memories. I can guarantee you that this won't be the last you hear from all of us, as we will be doing our own music projects beyond #12. But lets keep the #12 legacy living on forever and ever, like its got an Energizer battery in it, it'll just keep going and going and going and going..."

Guitarist Alexis Pareja added, "I'm glad to say I had quite a journey with this band (my first and only band). To write music for myself and have others enjoy it was the greatest thing that could ever happen to me. I saw many faces genuinely appreciate what we did, and that's what kept us going. We may have never reached the pinnacle of what 'could have been,' yet we fought hard and brought challenging ideas to those who chose to listen closely. The band was never rich/famous and that was not the goal. We desired to play music we genuinely enjoyed creating, while being able to support our own accumulating responsibilities. But there comes a moment where one takes a step back and reevaluates what has been built. Due to many ongoing issues and the slow deterioration of the band throughout the years, #12 has decided to let this little monster go to sleep. It is best to leave the band with the high standards it set for itself than water down anything good we had. I'm equally sorrowful it had to end in such a manner, however this will hopefully give rise to a new chapter of music and creativity from the members. We all plan to stay active in music in one form or another. The Number Twelve Looks Like You brought together a ruthless, diehard, demanding fan base that always made every show an adventure. I can guarantee that every show we ever played was priceless to us even when there were only 5 kids. I want to give thanks to all the fans that gave me the opportunity to take my guitar playing to the next level, and to travel the world with such a fine group of gentlemen. It was 9 years of hard work and we saw lots of bands come and go while trudging along with minimal requirements. We shared the stage with many amazing people, and I have innumerable memories that have had a profound impact on me."

Alternative Press - Tim Karan on 12/14/09 @ 10:10 AM - altpress.com

Harmonix and MTV Games have revealed plans to release a Green Day version of Rock Band next year. Green Day confirmed that they're planning a game at Spike TV's Video Game Awards. The collaboration has been rumored to be in the works since this past June when Green Day announced it during a radio interview.

Green Day: Rock Band will feature avatars of each member of the band along with the ability to export all of the tracks from the game to Rock Band and Rock Band 2. Harmonix Music Systems co-founder Alex Rigopulos said, ""This game will feel like a natural extension of Green Day and their music that will deepen the fans' connection to the band and their history. Fans will be able to enjoy some of the greatest songs from the Green Day catalogue in this standalone game or via Rock Band due to full export capability. We are thrilled to work with Green Day to revisit key moments from their career, including their likenesses, content and imagery, through our innovative form of musical interaction."

Weezer frontman released from hospital

Alternative Press - Scott Heisel on 12/11/09 @ 2:29 PM - altpress.com

Good news for Weezer fans: After being involved in a bus accident earlier this week and hospitalized with three cracked ribs and a punctured lung, frontman Rivers Cuomo has been discharged from the hospital. Weezer webmaster/documentarian Karl Koch blogged:

"...The time has come for freedom! After walking with and without a cane and getting some good hematocrit blood test results on Thursday, Rivers was given the go ahead to be released from the hospital! He elected to take an additional night to rest there, while we prepared a bus for the cross country trip to L.A., to begin today, Friday. "Wait a second," you say - "a bus? Why of all things would he get on a bus now?" Well, one of the strict doctors orders is that Rivers cannot get on an airplane for a month, as the air pressure changes would be bad for his healing punctured lung. So theres only one other quick way to get him home to L.A., and thats a tour bus. I'll be riding with him, making sure hes ok, and we'll have 2 drivers trading off driving and sleeping, so we dont have to stop! Were taking a warmer southerly route to avoid bad weather, and rivers will be using a cozy lower bunk for sleeping - none of that back lounge bedroom stuff for him! It will be cool - weve got seasons 1 and 2 of "Mad Men" to watch, some books to read, a freezer full of organic entrees, and the bus is wired for internet, so work can continue uninterrupted. The only thing were missing is Burt Reynolds in a 1978 Pontiac Trans-Am to run point for us!"

The band are set to return to the stage Jan. 9 for the second leg of their current Raditude tour with Jack's Mannequin supporting. Dates:

1/9 - Bill Graham Civic Auditorium San Francisco, CA
1/11 - Bren Event Center Irvine, CA
1/13 - Rimac La Jolla, CA
1/15 - Dodge Theater Phoenix, AZ
1/19 - Fillmore Denver, CO
