Activision files countersuit against No Doubt over Band Hero

Activision, the maker of music video game Band Hero, has filed a countersuit against No Doubt in response to the band's lawsuit. Last month, the band filed suit against Activision over the use of No Doubt members' likenesses being playable avatars for other bands' songs. We covered the incident in a web-exclusive cover story on Nov. 16.

Now Activision are returning the favor with a lawsuit of their own against No Doubt, citing breach of contract and unjust enrichment. The company made the following statement: "Activision admits that although it is possible to program a videogame whereby particular in-game characters can only be selected when certain songs are played, Plaintiff first requested this only after the Band Hero programming was finalized, had been submitted to all of the U.S. console manufacturers for approval and had been approved for manufacture by most console manufacturers..."

Activision is suing for unspecified damages along with a return of all of No Doubt's benefits and payments stemming from the game.

2010 Vans Warped Tour dates announced

Despite the tour being over seven months away, dates for the 2010 Vans Warped Tour have been announced today. Further, it has been confirmed that the first round of bands will be revealed on December 18th.

Underoath "snowed in"; show in Lawrence, Kansas, canceled

It hasn't been the best of weeks for Underoath. First, the van carrying all their gear crashed and its driver was sent to the hospital, forcing the band to cancel their Omaha show last night. Now, the band are "snowed in" in Newton, Iowa, meaning Wednesday's stop of their current tour with August Burns Red and Emery in Lawrence, Kansas, at the Granada Theater, is also canceled.

However, the promoter for the show says August Burns Red, who were able to make it through the inclement weather, will be performing alongside three local bands tonight. Details on the new show can be found here.

The Underoath/August Burns Red/Emery tour is now tentatively scheduled to pick up Dec. 10 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, but if that changes, we'll let you know.

Thursday/Dillinger Escape Plan show in Poplar Grove, Illinois, canceled

According to opening act Fake Problems, tonight's stop of the current Thursday/Dillinger Escape Plan/FP tour at Chubby Rain in Poplar Grove, Illinois, has been canceled due to, as the band tweets, "all the freakin' snow!" There is currently no word on rescheduling the show.

The tour is expected to pick up tomorrow in Grand Rapids, Michigan; you can view the remaining dates here.

You Me At Six plan UK tour with We The Kings, Forever The Sickest Kids

While they may have been only the opening act on the Fall Ball, U.K. pop-punk act You Me At Six are significantly bigger in their homeland, and as such, they've announced a headlining tour scheduled for March 2010 with opening acts We The Kings and Forever The Sickest Kids.
