Thrice unveil "In Exile" video

Thrice have posted their new video for "In Exile" on their MySpace page. Fans were invited to vote for their favorite track from the band's latest full-length, Beggars, and director Josh Stern helmed the clip for the winning song. The video features mostly live performance footage along with behind-the-scenes shots. Check it out below and let us know what you think!

New Moon soundtrack certified platinum

The soundtrack to The Twilight Saga: New Moon received RIAA platinum certification for exceeding sales of 1 million unites. The album also rose to No. 8 on the Billboard Top 200 and sold more than 93,000 units during its sixth week on sale. The soundtrack reached No. 1 in its first full week on sale, and the album has remained in the top 10 ever since.

The soundtrack features tracks from Death Cab For Cutie, Thom Yorke, Muse, the Killers and more. It also won "Favorite Soundtrack" at the American Music Awards earlier in the week.

Brandtson confirm hiatus

Vocalist Myk Porter of Cleveland indie rock outfit Brandtson has put to rest any doubts about the band's current status. Porter revealed in an interview that Brandtson have been on ice since they played their last show in February 2007. Porter says:

"After 11 years I think it was just time to move on. Everyone was so worn out after our last year of touring in 2006, I remember we rolled back into town on a cold day in December, unloaded the van and went our separate ways for a couple months. We played our last show in February of '07 in Cleveland, and that was it. Brandtson was very consuming for all of us, I think because we loved doing it so much. There just comes a time when you look back and realize how much of life you missed in the last decade. We never really planned on ending Brandtson or breaking up the band, it just kind of went out naturally. We're still the same best friends as we ever were, and that's what it was all about from the beginning anyway. I think it's safe to say that Brandtson is a thing of the past."

Brandtson released their final full-length, Hello, Control in 2006 on the Militia Group. Most of the members are now in Swarm Of Bats.

The Ready Set sign, stream new song

The Ready Set have signed with Decaydance Records and Sire Records in a joint venture between the two labels. He is currently in the studio recording for his debut full-length set to be released spring 2010. In celebration of the occassion, the Ready Set are streaming a new Christmas song entitled, "Blizzard of '89" here. The song will be available for download starting tomorrow on Purevolume.

Members of Fall Out Boy and Every Time I Die form metal band

According to reports, members of Fall Out Boy, Every Time I Die and Anthrax have teamed up to form the metal side-project, the Damned Things.

The band is said to include Fall Out Boy guitarist Joe Trohman and drummer Andy Hurley; Every Time I Die vocalist Keith Buckley and Anthrax guitarists Scott Ian and Rob Caggiano. The band will also include bassist David Karon. The band have written more than 15 songs and have plans to record before Christmas.

Trohman has said about the project: "Scott's right hand is the reason I got into playing punk rock, hardcore and metal! Having Keith as part of the mix is insane, we all know he writes incredible lyrics but he is also a really good singer. That is showcased in Every Time I Die, but we want him to go more into singing than screaming on this project."

Ian also said: ""We just started working on songs together and I really dug it. It just felt really good. From there we decided that obviously both of us are pretty busy in our day jobs but let's see what we can do with this. Even if it takes us five years to make a record, why not? It's super fun and it's something that we do totally take seriously because we love the music we've created. People think of Fall Out Boy and they think of Pete Wentz and Patrick. These two guys, man, they're fucking hardcore dudes. Joe writes some amazing riffs. We have this song called 'A Great Reckoning' that I swear to God, this song could be on any Thin Lizzy record. He fucking blew my mind with this song and I just can't wait for people to hear it."

Lights releases remix EP with help from Tim Armstrong and more

Synth-pop darling Lights just released a remix EP called Ice Pack. The EP features six versions of the song "Ice," from Lights' debut full-length, The Listening. The EP is available exclusively on her website.

The EP features remixes by Tim Armstrong (Rancid), Danny Lohner (Nine Inch Nails), rapper K-OS and more. Lights will be on tour with Owl City beginning late January. Dates are below.
