CASEY BATES / CHRIS CONLEY TO CO-PRODUCE NEXT DR. MANHATTAN LP

Dr. Manhattan have tapped a co-producing tandem of Casey Bates (Chiodos, Fear Before The March Of Flames, Portugal. The Man) and Chris Conley for their next full-length.

As far as anyone can tell, this will be the first producing job for Conley outside of his own band, Saves The Day.

Dr. Manhattan released their self-titled full-length on Vagrant early this year and will be heading out in February 2009 with the A.K.A.s and Foxy Shazam.

UNIVERSAL MOTOWN SIGNS PAPER ROUTE

Universal Motown has inked electro-indie-pop group Paper Route.

The band is currently finishing work on their debut full-length, which is slated for a spring 2009 release.

They previously released the Are We All Forogtten EP earlier this year on Low Altitude, as well as a self-titled EP in 2006 on The Wheatfield Group. They also recently digitally reissued their 2006 Christmas EP, A Thrill Of Hope.

DOOMRIDERS (CONVERGE) POST "A CROOKED PATH"

Doomriders, the side project for Converge guitarist Nate Newton, have posted a new song over at their MySpace page.

The track is titled "A Crooked Path" and is culled from their recent split 7" with Disfear, issued via that band's own label in Europe and Deathwish elsewhere. The song will also appear on Doomriders' eventual sophomore full-length and followup to 2005's Black Thunder. In that interim, they've also released splits with Coliseum (Not Of This World, 2006/2007) and Boris (Long Hair And Tights, 2007) and a Live From The Middle East 7".

MEDIASKARE SIGNS THE MILES BETWEEN

Mediaskare has signed Viper City, MA metalcore act the Miles Between.

Their label debut will come in the form of Deceiver, recorded this past summer in Corona, CA. Two songs are available for streaming at the band's MySpace page. It'll be released February 24th, 2009.

The band is also heading out on a January tour with Endwell and Ambush!.

MTV CONTINUES TO MOVE AWAY FROM THE "M" IN UPCOMING SERIES

Despite public pleas from artists ranging from Kanye West to Justin Timberlake for the network to return to it's music video past, MTV recently announced 16 new reality shows that have nothing to do with music. Slated to launch between now and the end of April, "These new series reflect Generation 'Why Not?' - living, working and playing on their own terms, 'adventure capitalists' if you will, pursuing a variety of thrill-seeking, 2.0, express-yourself enterprises," says MTV entertainment president Brian Graden.

New shows to appear include College Life, a student-shot series filmed at the University of Wisconsin, a daredevil program called Nitro Circus, the Donald Trump produced Charm School-esque Girls of Hedsor Hall, where they send send twelve "hard-partying young women" to English finishing school, and The College Humor Show, about the founders of Collegehumor.com. With the cancellation of TRL the last vestige of music-based programming on the network falls on the Pete Wentz hosted series FNMTV.
