Straylight Run go on indefinite hiatus

Straylight Run have announced that they are going on "indefinite hiatus." The band formed after vocalist/guitarist John Nolan and bassist Shaun Cooper left Taking Back Sunday in 2003, going on to add drummer Will Noon and Nolan's sister Michelle DaRosa on vocals and keyboards. DaRosa left Straylight in 2008 and later formed Destry, leaving Nolan, Cooper and Nolan as a trio. Straylight released two full-lengths and three EPs including 2009's About Time.

In a blog on the band's MySpace and Tumblr pages, Straylight posted a statement saying that the members will be open to working together again in the future, and they still have plans to release their planned live album.

The statement reads:

"We are very sad to announce to you that we will be going on an indefinite hiatus. We call it a hiatus and not a break up because the band still enjoys working together and is open to the idea of doing so in the future. If it was up to us we would continue making music throughout this year and the years to come, but the unfortunate reality is that being in a band is a business and when business isn't good you can only keep going for so long.

We are still making plans to release the live album that we recorded at the end of our last tour. As of now there is no release date though, so stay tuned for more information on that.

We would like to thank everyone one of you who ever came to a show, bought one of our records, took us on tour or supported us in any way at all over the nearly seven years that we've been a band. We'd also like to thank everyone that has worked for us, especially Dave Stein, Andrew Buck, Dayna Ghiraldi, Shannon Kimball and everyone at Padell. We have had an amazing time and feel so incredibly grateful to you all for everything we've experienced throughout our years as a band. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts."

Alexisonfire book U.S. tour with Trash Talk, Therefore I Am

Canadian post-hardcore quintet Alexisonfire have booked their first U.S. headlining tour in support of last year's Old Crows/Young Cardinals. Coming along for the ride will be Trash Talk, Therefore I Am and La Dispute. AOF had previously announced plans for a new EP to be out in time for this tour, but there's no word on whether it will be ready. Dates:

The Get Up Kids plan April release for new EP

While a specific date hasn't been nailed down yet, influential Midwestern emo outfit The Get Up Kids have announced they will be putting out a new four-song EP in April.

Dubbed Simple Science, it will be self-released by the band both as a limited CD/LP, as well as digitally through iTunes.

While the band re-released their landmark 1999 full-length Something To Write Home About last year, this will be the first new music they have released since 2004's Guilt Show.

In other news, they'll also be gearing up for a run of Australian and Japanese dates soon. According to their MySpace blog, however, bassist Ryan Pope will not be joining the group on the road "due to circumstances beyond our control." Here's the full routing:

The Rocket Summer to perform acoustic at our 100 Bands showcase, streaming new album

The Rocket Summer have been added to the lineup of our free, all-day 100 Bands (You Need To Know) concert set to take place Saturday, March 20, at Emo's in Austin. Mute Math drummer engaged to Eisley keyboardist

While her sister is in the middle of a bizarre love triangle (bizarre love square if you include Hayley Williams), Eisley keyboardist/vocalist Stacy DuPree has announced her engagement to Mute Math drummer Darren King.
